  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups wheat flour (330 g)
  • 1 cup butter (225 g)
  • 1 glass of milk (245 g)
  • 1 cup sugar (225 g)
  • 1 tablespoon chemical yeast (baking powder)
  • 1 cup chocolate shavings (125 g)

Preparation of the recipe for Bolo formigueiro (anthill cake):

Place in the blender cup eggs, milk and oil. Beat with a mixer until well blended. Add the sugar and beat again until you get a homogeneous dough. Add the flour little by little and keep fighting.

Transfer the dough to a bowl, add the chocolate chips and yeast and mix everything.

Spread a round pan with a central hole and sprinkle flour on top (so that the cake does not stick). Pour the dough into the form and bake with the oven preheated to 180ºC for 40 minutes until the cake is fully cooked.

Remove the bolo formigueiro from the oven, allow it to cool and peel.

Decorate the cake:

If you wish, you can cover the bolo formigueiro with chocolate, icing or powdered sugar.


To see if the cake has finished baking, place the tip of the knife in it. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
