Philips AirFryer is un a small appliance that can help us in our kitchen to prepare recipes using only butter.
The brand Philips presented the Philips AirFryer on September 2 at the IFA Internationale Funk Ausstellung IFA (held in Berlin until next September 8). A device that can prepare food without the need to add a drop of oil to the preparation.
This does not mean that it is cooked without oil, as what Philips AirFryer really uses for “frying” are the natural fats that are found in many foods, as in the case of meat or fish, and even those in some frozen or pre-prepared ingredients such as pre-fried potatoes.

And what happens when we want to develop chips “Fresh”? Well, in this case, if you need to add a small amount of butter, otherwise the result will not be as expected: crispy, golden potatoes with almost no fat.
AirFryer includes the patented Rapid Air technology, which allows you to fry several foods at the same time with 80% less fat.
Easy to use, it works with an air filter for a clean kitchen. No fumes or bad smells. The Philips AirFryer drawer and basket have a non-stick coating and are dishwasher safe.
The good thing about Philips AirFryer is that unlike Tefal’s Actifry (another fryer that uses a little oil), it’s a smaller, more even kitchen appliance with more modern technology.
The only thing left to know, apart from its official price in Spain (in the UK. official shop about 240 euros, and in some online stores in Spain you can find the model HD9220 / 20 for about 200 euros) and its culinary capabilities, Philips AirFryer really does frying without oil and will be useful in our kitchen.
Philips AirFryer fact sheet in PDF
According to OCU, this deep fryer comes out very poorly:
- Airfryer uses about 390 Wh to fry a pound of potatoes, which is about 25% more electricity than a classic deep fryer.
- The total duration of the process is longer: 17 minutes compared to 11 for the classic (Actifry consumes a little less, but is even slower, 21 minutes).
- The noise is also louder than with classic fryers due to the air ventilation system.
- Although it uses little oil, the risk level of acrylamides (a carcinogen) is higher than with traditional fryers. Finally, the price of the Philips Airfryer is just under 200 euros, very similar to that of the Tefal Actifry. .. and much higher than that of the classic deep fryers, which rarely reach 100 euros …
