Homemade meatballs with Spanish sauce
How to make homemade meatballs with Spanish sauce. Today we have an impressive and very simple recipe for meatballs, because thanks to the Hida products I use in the cooking process, we will save a few steps. I’m talking about the caramelized onions I mixed with the meat and the fried onions, which is the main character in the sauce. I should also mention the Carmencita garlic and parsley spice, which gives it the spicy touch that meatballs so desperately need. Do not think for a second that all these products will mean a great loss in the quality of the dish, because the difference, if any, is invaluable to most people. At Cocina Familiar, we try to work with brands that produce products of exceptional quality, and both Hida and Carmencita are brands that meet more than this requirement.

Ingredients for 8 people
1 – We prepare the meat from the meatballs
We start by mixing in a bowl the meat, sliced bread soaked in milk, eggs, caramelized onions and spices from garlic and parsley Carmencita. When we have a homogeneous dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
2 – We start the sauce for the sauce
Meanwhile, make the Spanish sauce by placing olive oil on the bottom of a large pan where all the meatballs will fit. When it is hot, add the fried onion and cook it a bit.
3 – Continue with the sauce
After 3-4 minutes of slow cooking onions add the crushed meat broth tablets. Stir a little to dissolve in the butter.
4 – We finish our sauce
Immediately after that, pour a little water, stir a little and turn off the heat or reduce it to a minimum, as we will shape and fry the meatballs, and this will take some time.
5 – Shape and flour the meatballs
Take the meat out of the fridge, make meatballs and pass them through the flour, moving them well so that no flour balls remain.
6 – Fry the meatballs and put them in the sauce
Put a pan with 2 fingers of oil on the fire and when it is hot, put the meatballs inside. Shortly after we start frying them, lower the stove to medium intensity so that they do not overcook the outside too quickly and remain raw on the inside.
7 – Boil the meatballs in the sauce
While the meatballs are being made, place them in the sauce pan. In which they are all, add enough water so that they just appear on top and increase the heat. When the sauce boils, reduce the heat to medium and cook the meatballs for 30 minutes. After this time, remove the casserole from the heat and let the meatballs rest for another 5-10 minutes.
