These chickpeas with squid are ideal for everyday meals, although this is not their only purpose. They are also perfect as a recipe for tupperware, for all those part-time people who have to eat out, but don’t want to / can do it in restaurants. They can even be made with chickpeas from a pot, although, of course, will not be close to the same. I say this in the sense of not having to use the pot and the time, which is significantly reduced.

1 – Cook chickpeas in a saucepan

First of all, we need to soak the chickpeas the night before. The next morning we will start by putting water for heating in the pot. When it boils, add the bay leaves, one of the peeled onions, the drained chickpeas and a handful of salt. It will take them approximately 15 minutes to cook, although everyone knows their pot and the time may vary.

2 – Fry the garlic and onion

In the meantime, we will make the American sauce. Cut the remaining onion and garlic into slices (after peeling them). Then put them to fry in a pan to a certain depth, with olive oil covering the bottom and a little salt.

3 – Add red pepper and fried tomato

When the onion starts to become translucent, we will add the chopped red pepper. In which it is made, we will add hot red pepper and fried tomato.

4 – Add water and mix the sauce

Stir a little and add a stream of water. We stir again and pour everything into a vessel where we can dare without putting everything like Christ. Crush the sauce well and return it to the casserole.

5 – Add the squid

Then we will cut the squid into pieces. They do not have to be small, because later in the stew they will shrink a lot. Then add them to the sauce and soak them well with it.

After 5 minutes of cooking the squid, add the chickpeas with some of the cooking broth. If it is too much, we will have to cook them for too long with the sauce, risking them to fall apart. We will cook chickpeas with sauce for 15-20 minutes.

In case the sauce is still very liquid after this time, dissolve a teaspoon of cornstarch in a little water and add it to the sauce. Stir and you will soon see how the sauce has thickened.
